Introduction

This section describes the publicly available components and applications delivered by the MobiLife project. These components are a set of diverse Context Providers and Context Brokers. Most of them are used directly from the Context Watcher application to store and share context information, to reason with context information, or to use context to tag user actions or creations (such as images or videos).

Context Watcher

The Context Watcher is a mobile application that aims is to make automatic recording, storage, and usage of context information easy for the end-user.

Context Broker (A)

This component stores references to CPs, which enables to make a CP public by registering it, or to find any registered CP by specifying the needed data (such as parameters and entities).

Context Broker (D)

This component provides a repository for managing Context Provider Advertisements (CPA). The high-level context provider advertisement management features supported by the repository include: registering, labeling, collection and logic-based predicate querying.

The Location Provider

A Context Provider that stores automatically recorded location data from a GPS device or GSM/GPRS/UMTS cell information, enhances that information with geo-location and address, and performs clustering to find personal frequently visited places (FVPs).

The Environment Provider

A Context Provider that delivers environmental information for a given location.

The Wellness Provider

A Context Provider that stores automatically recorded body data from a heart sensor and a foot sensor.

The Presence Provider

A Context Provider that stores presence information like 'Availability' and 'Mood' as well as users' self defined custom presence information.

The Preference Provider

The preference context provider offers personal and group-related profile and personalization data.

Recommender

Recommender is a generic component that learns user models and uses them to make context-aware recommendations.

The Rule-Based Context Reasoning Interface (RuBaCRI)

A common interface that wraps different possible rule-based inference engine to provide rule-based reasoning.

Terminal Location Context Provider

The Terminal Location Context Provider on request provides different kinds of location information of a user or a mobile terminal, e.g. a PDA, using different means for determining location.

The C-log Provider

A Context Provider that automatically composes daily summaries by gathering information from different context providers. These daily summaries can be for private use (dairy), for business use (activity reporting) or for public use (towards personal blogs).

The Photo Provider

A Context Provider that stores context-tagged photos.

Context Watcher and Flickr

Pictures made with the Context Watcher can also be submitted to Flickr, directly from the mobile phone. The added value of the Context Watcher is that different type of context information are added to the picture as a so called tag. These tags enable the user the user to quickly find a picture of a specific situation: e.g. when I was in Munich with Marko. Additionally, pictures are put in the right collection automatically, so that e.g. the home pictures are separated from the office pictures. And last but not least, a description is auto-generated for each picture, based on context information. Below are the last submitted pictures, click them to see the context information as tags, and click the tags to find pictures in similar contexts.
